I am a writer of light, offbeat stories—from young adult to adult fiction. I enjoy stories with a twist, sometimes tinged with a bit of darkness or laced with pain, and I try to bring those sensibilities to my own writing. My ideas are generally fantasy or horror, though frequently upbeat and humor infused—weird, absurdist, bizarro, slipstream, faerie-tale and dark faeries, these are all elements that inspire me.

While I’ve enjoyed many high fantasy series I’m not terribly interested in the standard tropes: elves, dwarves, orcs, etc.; the same applies for monster horror: vampires, werewolves (though I am partial to zombies)—they have become too stereotypical and, if used, need to be turned on their head.

As far as personal information, well…I think I’ll keep that to myself. It’s not terribly interesting, really. I believe in communicating through my stories and if you read enough of my writing I think you’ll get a good sense of my personality. But, because you are here, let me leave you with this:

Some of my favorite authors:

Neil Gaiman
Tad Williams
Ursula K. Le Guin
Marion Zimmer Bradley
Mary Stewart
Stephen King
Peter Straub
Roger Zelazny

And the music that inspires:

Tori Amos
Imogen Heap
Massive Attack
Throwing Muses (and Kristin Hersh and Tanya Donelly)
Thomas Newman (best when writing – no lyrics!)

Finally, if you’ve read my previous “about”—or you’ve seen an old cached version—let me just say that fiction is a pervasive thing, and there are many ways to tell a tale.
